Balanchine Method

The Balanchine Method is a ballet method developed by George Balanchine, a Vaganova Ballet Academy graduate and previous dancer at the New York City Ballet. The style is extremely challenging and requires precision. The method uses illusions to make the dancer look longer, taller, and with higher legs. The overall idea of the Balanchine method is to use more space in less time. Currently, the Balanchine Method is taught at School of American Ballet, the school of the New York City Ballet, and at many schools of Balanchine's students. Balanchine Method dancers must be extremely fit and flexible. Injuries are common for those not used to this technique.
